High on Fire is a stoner/doom metal band formed by Matt Pike after the legendary doom metal band Sleep split up. High on Fire plays faster than doom metal bands normally play, but that isn't a bad thing. They play what may be some of the best metal to have come out within the decade, combining the heaviness latent in doom with more energetic guitar solos and drumming styles and they pull it off awesomely.
