There are, however, some elements common to most No Wave music, such as abrasive atonal sounds, repetitive driving rhythms, and a tendency to emphasize musical texture over melody - typical of the early downtown music of La Monte Young. The Ventures

Move over Beach Boys, forget about Dick Dale, its THE VENTURES! One of the most influential bands in rock. Releasing more albums than imaginable, they were a dual-guitar attack of instrumental rock. They even created the theme song for Hawaii Five-O. They finally were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this year.
